WIP: Crochet Lion Pillow

Another WIP I have been working on is Larry Lion pillow from Fun Animal Pillows by Kristi Simpson. I have been using Loops & Threads Urban in brown which isn’t really the default lion colour but I think it will still look cute.

This is the second pattern I have made from this booklet, I also made the Teddy Bear. The patterns are pretty easy to crochet, the head and body are worked in one piece with shaping and you crochet a front and back and sew the pieces together and add ears and other features.

Tiger

Image

I made this tiger last year for my nephew for Christmas. I wasn’t blogging consistently at that time so it didn’t get posted but I wanted to share it anyway. He is based on the Hobbes tiger from the Calvin & Hobbes comics that my nephew likes. I loosely followed a pattern from Toys to Knit by Tracy Chapman  for her elephant. I made the elephant from her book and he turned out really big. Like huge. I named him Hubert. Anyway I wanted this tiger to be very large so I followed the pattern but added the stripes and the white feet and hands (well, paws, I guess). The head I kind of just made up and it turned out kind of flat looking but not altogether bad.

I had knit my other nephew a moose for Christmas as well and this project was kind of delayed. I was knitting it furiously close to Christmas and in fact he was not ready in time. It was really fun to have him sitting on the sofa next to me when he was completed and he was very cuddly. My nephew thought he was terrific and he is a very well-loved tiger now.

He is made from Loops & Threads Impeccable in pumpkin, aran and black.
